Start of application / implementation New Organic Regulation VO (EU) 2018/848

On 4 September 2020, the European Commission submitted a proposal to the European Parliament and the Council on the basis of its right of initiative to amend Regulation (EU) 2018/848 on organic production as regards its date of application and certain other dates specified in that Regulation (see: eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/ ). In the course of the ordinary legislative procedure, on 8 October 2020, the European Parliament supported the proposal at first reading and the position was unanimously confirmed by the Agriculture and Fisheries Council . As a result of this agreement, the act is deemed to have been adopted. The regulation will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
